The Jive Five "My True Story"

An American DooWop Group, The Jive Five was formed in the 1950's. They came out with this great song "My True Story" in 1961, which brought them lots of success and made it to the #3 spot, But I actually think with the great harmony this song truely deserved the number one spot. Doowop music is defined as vocal harmony is rythm and blues music, but this one stands out to me because it just sounds so good =)

ATB-9 PM (Till I come)

I knew that I wanted to put a techno/trance/dance song on this blog, because there is just so much amazing trance out there, so I thought I would start with this classic one by ATB.

This song was really hot back in 99 the but is a great classic to listen to anywhere, anytime. Its good dance music, but also a great loungey song that always makes me imagine a super modern bar with martinis that cost $45 and cocktail waitresses that look like models and never smile.

ATB, stands for the German DJ Andre Tanneberger. Interesting story on how this song was created. Apparently, he was briefly gonna show his girlfriend a new "guitar"-like sound he found in his studio and somehow got carried away and ended up with this track a full 3 hours later. By the time he was done , it was 9pm, hence the title "9pm" . Later he picked up vocals from a spanish model named Yoland Riviera on her TV apperance where she said "Till I Come" , which explains the double titles for this song. Enjoy the song and the vid....

*Interesting Fact: This is the first ever Trance Song to reach #1 in the UK. (Also check out "The Launch"-fast beat, awesome for club and "Dont Stop"-comparible to 9pm, also by ATB)

D'Angelo-Devil's Pie

This is a great song that has a mellow, fabulous beat and great soft, vocals. D'Angelo, who is a Grammy Award winning R & B artist, also does work as songwriter, instrumentalist and producer. His music is technically considered Neo-soul, which is considered the more "underground" form of "soul" but , hey, you be the judge of that. Its still great music.

Andrea Bocelli - "Con Te Partiro"

"Con Te Partiro", or "With You I will leave" (Italian) Is a brilliant world-famous song. You may know it as "Time to Say Goodbye" in English. Many people consider this song to be Andrea Bocellis most recognizable song. Just Google it and you'll find sooooo many versions of it in many different languages. He also famously sang a spanish/english version with renouned singer Sara Brightman, which I also like, but this version below is superb in my opinion because I think Andrea Bocelli is incredible on his own.

Andrea Bocelli is a famous Italian tenor who was born in Tuscany and by the age of twelve, he was completely blind. I am very happy for Andrea Bocelli and all of his well deserved success.

Bloc Party "Flux"

You know those songs that start out amazing, and you are immediately infatuated? BUT then when you learn the lyrics it even more amazing???? Well this is that song for me. I probably heard this song like 50 times before I got around to finding out the lyrics and here I am today , very impressed with them. So much that I decided to share with you and see how you enjoy it too.

"Flux"(Lyrics)

If your right hand is causing you pain
Cut it off cut it off
If your colours have started to run
Let them all run, run away from you
There is lightning in this room
Above our heads waiting to strike
Im a thinker not a talker
Put your faith, your faith in God

We were hoping for some romance
All we found was more dispair
We must talk about our problems
We are in a state of Flux

Id kill for an adventure
Just you and I in the Curzon Bar
Dancing till we knew
So all that we've learnt disappeared
When you shouted at me
I saw my father in the second grade
Concerned and kind
But yet unable to reach me

We were hoping for some romance
All we found was more dispair
We must talk about our problems
We are in a State of Flux

State of Flux [x9]

We need to talk [x5]

We were hoping for some romance
All we found was more dispair
We must talk about our problems
We are in a state of Flux

Smitten-"Nada Para Mi, Nada Para Vos"

This awesome Indie Rock Band known as Smitten, comes from Argentina. This single titled "Nada Para Mi, Nada Para Vos" meaning "Nothing for me, Nothing for You" has a catchy fast beat that had me nodding my head from the get go. Check out the song HERE.

Argentine rock , similar to all of the spanish rock music from Latin countries, has such a similarity to english rock, that I have no doubt this song can be played on mainstream stations and be very well received despite language barriers.

Check out this bands website for more info Here.
